Wow.  That's really all there is to say about this majestic waterfall found near Pelsor in Pope county Arkansas.  While this is more technically described as a cascade rather than a waterfall, this is a towering 40' flow of water that comes roaring down the mountain and crashes into a green pool of water below.  To find the parking area, from the main intersection in Pelsor, go south on hwy 7 for only 1/4 mile and park at the wildlife management area sign at that point.

Hike Info - From the parking area, go into the woods and down the mountain until you reach a small creek.  I'm actually not sure of the name of this particular creek.   Even though this is technically a bushwhack hike, there is actually a visible footpath that we followed.  Once you reach the creek, simply follow it downstream (in a roughly southerly direction) until you reach the falls.  It's not a long way and the entire hike is really only about 1.5 miles roundtrip.  There are a number of small cascades and small pouroffs along the way and it's really a pleasant little hike.  With that said, it seems you reach the main falls rather abruptly and it seems to pop up out of nowhere so be very careful.  Some people might be tempted to get the money shot of a picture over looking the waterfall but be very careful because the rocks at the top of the falls are very slick.  Facing the waterfall from the top, you'll notice a large outcrop about 25 yards down the left side of the bluff which is an excellent picture taking location.  Most people will want to go to the bottom of the falls and it's a very tricky climb down so be careful.  The path down is on the left side of the falls and involves actual climbing with very narrow footholds.  This has some risk involved so be sure that you are willing to accept the risk before scaling down.  The view from the bottom is simply magnificent.  It is one of the absolute most majestic waterfalls I've seen in Arkansas so our little group sat and soaked up the scenery for about 30 minutes.  But since you've come this far, don't stop there.  About 200 yards further down the creek there is a canyon with a double waterfall; the second of which is almost as impressive as the main waterfall.  It's a 10 foot dropoff into a gorge that is absolutely beautiful.  A picture of this is included below.  You'll know it when you see it.  The hike back to the Jeep was uneventful except to say the climb from the creek to the road is very steep and is the reason I gave this hike a difficulty rating of four despite being relatively short.

Final Word - This is a fabulous waterfall and one that I highly recommend everyone to add to their Arkansas waterfall bucket list.  This is a fairly strenuous hike so this is not recommended for the elderly, young children or those with any sort of mobility or stamina issues.
